Know the island before you land
Agatti is protected and quiet. A little preparation goes a long way.
This guide is a summary based on official sources. Rules can change, so always confirm current requirements with the Lakshadweep Administration before you travel.
Entry permits
Lakshadweep is a protected Union Territory and visitors need an entry permit issued by the Lakshadweep Administration before they travel.
Requirements and the application process are set by the administration and can change. Always check the current rules through the official Lakshadweep Administration channels before you book transport.
Allow enough time for approval, and keep a copy of your permit with you on arrival.
Share your travel dates with us early so you can plan permit timing around them.
Alcohol
Alcohol is not permitted on Agatti, and it is not served at Shore House. Bring your appetite for fresh coconut, island tea and tropical juices instead.
Dress and etiquette
Agatti is a Muslim-majority island with a conservative, welcoming culture. Swimwear is for the beach and lagoon; please dress modestly around the village and in public areas.
Ask before photographing people, and be respectful around prayer times and local homes.
Connectivity
Mobile coverage and data can be limited and slow. We offer Wi-Fi at the resort, but please plan for a slower, quieter few days.
Reef and marine life
The lagoon and reef are fragile and protected. Do not collect or break coral, take shells or touch turtles. Use reef-safe sunscreen where you can and follow your guide's advice.
